Applying for a school place with medical, health or special access needs

Some schools allow for medical, health or special access reasons as part of their oversubscription criteria.

Please make sure you read the criteria for each school you are applying for, to see if they give your child a higher priority of a place based on medical, health or special access needs. If they do and you wish to apply on these reasons, you must state this on your application and provide medical evidence.

Evidence must be from a GP or other medical professional showing your child’s needs and how the named school can help meet them. The evidence must be submitted at the time you apply.

If you have medical needs

Some schools may also give a child a higher priority of a place based on their parents or carers mental or physical disabilities.

This is normally considered if there's an large impact on the schools named in the application or if there's a need for a child to attend a particular school because of their parents disability.

If you wish to apply on these reasons, you must state this on your child's application and provide medical evidence.

Evidence must be from a GP or other medical professional who can show a link between your needs and a named school. The evidence must be submitted at the time you apply.
